Lady Brown is the eldest daughter of Sir James and Lady MacAlistair. She is elder sister to twins Selina Clare and Belinda Cholmondeley. She made her debut in Bath in 1801 and married Sir Francis Brown in 1803. Sir Francis being happy to be dominated, and his wife eager to dominate, the marriage has turned out well. They live at Sir Francis' estate in Gloucestershire and attend the Bath season every year. When Selina was widowed and made homeless in 1810, she lived with the Browns for the year of her mourning.
