Handforth Dean is the farm estate belonging to the Thorne family. After James Thorne died along with his wife, only son and younger brother, it passed to Alfred Thorne. A rambling collection of buildings from the 16th century originally and added to over the centuries, Mr. Thorne is currently in the process of expanding it to incorporate a new wing suitable for his eldest son Alexander and his family. It brings in an income of £2000 pa.
