Background

Sylvester was born the youngest son of the Duke and Duchess of Elsings. This meant that the only thing he had to worry about in his life was...well...nothing. As long as his older brother, John, provided an heir (which he did, four years ago) then Sylvester would not become Duke, therefore all the responsibility and worry was in the hands of his brother and eventually nephew. This meant that, though some youngest sons may be bitter at such a thing, Sylvester was in fact glad. He had all the good fortune of being a Duke's son and therefore being very wealthy, but none of the responsibility. That suited him fine.

Being the middle child, Sylvester was never given that much attention from his parents. In fact, it could even be said that they cared very little at all for their youngest son, as he seemed somewhat superfluous in the scheme of things. His parents were married into a relationship of convenience and good planning, therefore that was how they lived their life and how they treated their children. Still, it always seemed to Sylvester that his sister was doted upon simply for being female, and his brother was adored simply for being the next in line for the Dukedom.

Sylvester feels he had a perfectly nice childhood, despite all this. He attended Eton and enjoyed it. He then went on to Oxford to study the classics, having a great affection for Latin and poetry.

This is his third season in London. His parents come every year, and this year his sister is debuting. His brother, sister-in-law, and nephew are in Bath for the season.
