Augusta, Duchess of Leicester was born Lady Augusta Hackett and is the only daughter of the [[George Hackett I|Earl of Morven]] and the elder sister of [[George Hackett|Lord Selwyn]]. She was brought up in Dorset at [[Morven Castle]]. She made her debut in 1797 and married the Duke of Leicester the following year. They have four children. She is a cold, proud woman with a high sense of her own importance. She has little real affection for her brother beyond concern that he makes a good marriage.
