Her Grace, Cassandra Gosling, Duchess of Leighton (born Cassandra Chichester) is the late wife of His Grace, Nicholas Gosling, the Duke of Leighton.
The couple were married in late 1807 but Cassie died in childbirth in 1809 and her child did not survive a day. A fluffy white cat, given to her by her husband as a kitten and named Seraphim, still roams Gosling House in London.
Cassandra was one of three children of the Earl and Countess of Locke. She is survived by both parents and one brother, Michael, and one sister, Marion.
Cassie friends and acquaintances during her time in the London social set included Tess Barstowe - now Lady Courteny - and Her Grace, Julia Hissop.
