Andrew Astor was the 18th Earl of Hopetoun and husband of Elizabeth Astor.
He is the late father of Camilla Fairmont and Anthea Winter, each of whom had a very significant dowry. As Andrew Astor had no sons, upon his death the Earldom passed to a distant cousin. He is the maternal grandfather of played characters Rosalind Fairmont, Jemima Fairmont, Marcus Fairmont and Katherine Winter.
The earl will be remembered for his contributions in the House of Parliament and forward-thinking ideas on transport and infrastructure.
