Marquessate of Raulings
The first Grafton was mentioned in 1130 as William de Graftona, though the exact relationship to the current marquess and William de Graftona is unknown. Charles Grafton was made Earl of Bridgeton in 1622 by James I, with their heirs being known as Viscount Grafton. The family received a large home in their home county of Leicestershire. In 1746, George II made George Grafton, 5th Earl of Bridgeton, the first Marquess of Raulings (making him a Marquess of Great Britain). Thomas Grafton is the 2nd Marquess of Raulings, (6th) Earl of Bridgeton, and (6th) Viscount Grafton.
