9th Foot

The 9th Regiment of Foot is an infantry regiment primarily associated with the county of Norfolk, in East Anglia. They have served in the Peninsular War since 1809. They were involved in the disatrous retreat to Corunna, culminating in the Battle of Corunna on the 16th January 1809. In 1809, they were sent abroad again to take part in the Walcheren Campaign in the Low Countries, before returning to Portugal, where they fought at Busaco in September 1810 as part of the 5th Division under James Leith.
