Background
Alexander emerged healthy and robust and was immediately the apple of his father's eye. As a toddler he wanted for absolutely nothing, he had any toy he could think of and had an army of nannies and tutors to cater to his every whim. Fortunately he never let it get to his head. He could twist his parents around his little chubby finger and get away with murder. By the age of ten he was well above other boys his age in the areas of horsemanship. But all was not well in the Knight clan.
William and Emma were not the happy couple they presented to the ton, they were so unhappy in fact that William drove Emma into the arms of other men, leaving her with two bastard children, Robert and Lucien. William claimed them as his own to avoid scandal but most people already suspected the worst. Eden was also of true blood, a bad attempt at reconciliation but she would have her own problems growing up among London's elite. Society would be watching her like a hawk to make sure she didn't repeat her mother's mistakes.
At age twenty tradgedy struck the family, Alexander's father was killed in a hunting accident. He tried to take a jump that was not of his skill level and took an awful fall. Alexander was with him and had to carry him back to their country estate. He died a few days later from trauma. His mother passed away six months after her husband from a bad case of pneumonia, leaving Alexander barely twenty years old the ninth earl of Cumberland
