Amalie Marchal was only 16 when she married the wealthy, charming Maximilien Armistead, a family friend two decades her senior. She discovered too late that her new husband was a violent brute and spent the years of her marriage protecting their two children, Yves Armistead and Amandine Armistead, from his rages. When Maximilien died in a shooting accident in 1792, Amalie was left as a very rich, very merry widow. She married the man who fired the fatal shot just twelve months later and from that day to this, nothing is too much trouble for her adored children.
She is currently in Vienna with Amandine, pursuing her daughter's operatic career.
