The Barony of Roth is a hereditary title in the Peerage of Scotland, held by the Burstow Family. The current holder is Samuel Burstow.
The Barony has only recently begun to regain their fortunes, and was struck by scandal in 1787. The day before Marion's debut, Lawrence had been out drinking, and went on a drunken rage in the middle of Grosvenor Square, much to Marion's humiliation and the Ton's shock.
