How to Create a Character Page on the Wiki
This how-to guide assumes you have already created a username.
1. Type in the search box the exact name of the page you want to create.
Please use the name that appears as your login on the boards. For example, Lizzie Dunford may be called Lizzie, but when I post as her, her username is Elizabeth Dunford. Therefore, her wiki page is called Elizabeth Dunford. Elise Hampton, in contrast, logs in as Elise Hampton rather than Elisabeth Hampton. Therefore, her wiki page should be Elise Hampton, not Elisabeth Hampton. Later on, you can create redirect pages, so that someone typing Elisabeth Hampton will be automatically taken to Elise Hampton's page.
2. After you search for the page, you will be taken to a page that tells you no such pages exists. There will be a red link to create this page. Click it.
3. This takes you to the editing box. You may then begin to type the information you wish to be displayed on the wiki page.
4. Check out an already created page, like that of Katharine Steele. See that box on the right side of the page that includes pertinent information so that the reader doesn't have to read the entire article to get a quick overview? This is called an infobox and there are different templates for each character type.
5. Choose an infobox template:
WOMEN
Debutante (Use this infobox for a single lady, no matter if this is her first season or not. Use this infobox for spinsters as well. Examples include Julianne Grafton and Hermione Longstaffe.)
Married Lady (Use this infobox for currently married ladies, regardless of whether or not this is her first marriage. Examples include Georgiana Haworth and Claudia Morton.)
Widow (Use this infobox for widows who have not yet remarried. Examples include Katharine Steele and Selina Clare.)
Servant (Use this infobox for governesses, companions, or other service people, even if they are of gentle birth. Examples include Rebecca Garrison and Norah Parker.)
MEN
Single Peer (Use this infobox for single, never married titleholders or heirs. This includes men whose current titles are courtesy titles. Examples include Marcus Fairmont, Walter Roydon, and Francis Hopkins-Lawrence.)
Married Peer (Use this infobox for married titleholders, regardless of whether or not this is his first marriage. This includes men whose current titles are courtesy titles. Examples include Clarence Haworth and Matthew Westcott.)
Younger Son (Use this infobox for younger sons of titleholders, single or married. Examples include William Gosling and Charlie Devenish.
Widower Peer (Use this infobox for widower peers who have not yet remarried. Examples include Nicholas Gosling and Phillip Vaudrey.)
Noble Soldier (Use this infobox for military men, of any branch of the military, who descend from nobility. Examples include Anthony Dunford and Thomas Sterne.)
Married Man (Use this infobox for married men whose fathers were not titleholders.)
Servant (Use this infobox for footmen, valets, maids etc.)
Soldier (Use this infobox for military men, of any branch of the military, who do not descend from nobility. Examples include Stephen Brydges.)
Bachelor (An infobox created by Francesca. Useful for bachelors, as it lists their annual income and schools.)
6. Once you've selected a template that is appropriate to your character, visit How to Implement an Infobox.
7. Use the preview button to see how your page will look before you save it. You may save an unfinished page and return to work on it later.
8. When you're ready to save your page, click Save Page. Your wikipage is instantly available to the web.
