Jane Ellesmere

Jane Ellesmere (nee Carlisle) is aunt to played character Kit Carlisle and his sister Josie.

She has one son Nathaniel Ellesmere and four daughters Elinor, Patience, Prosperity and Annie with her husband Anthony. The family is definitively New Money. Nathaniel has recently vanished to the Continent in disgrace and the Ellesmere have called Christopher to their side in town and named him as heir.

Jane is a good woman but, above all, is ambitious, and driven by a desire for loftier connections -- especially for her daughters. She sees it as only natural that Kit should provide these in exchange for taking her son's inheritance.
