Johann von Alfeld, the Graf (Count) of Alfeld, is the father of Charlotte Vickery, the wife of the Viscount Saltash, and is the maternal grandfather of Robert, John and Emma Vickery. His estates are in Hanover and since the annexation of that province by Napoleon, and the war between Britain and France, he has not seen his grandchildren since they were very young.
