Augusta, Duchess of Leicester was born Lady Augusta Hackett and is the elder daughter of the Earl of Morven and the elder sister of Lady Comfield and Lord Selwyn. She was brought up in Dorset at Morven Castle. She made her debut in 1797 and married the Duke of Leicester the following year. They have four children. She is a cold, proud woman with a high sense of her own importance. She has little real affection for her brother beyond concern that he makes a good marriage. She is good friends with Lady Surrey.
