Background
Miranda was the first of three girls for Baron Groveby and his lovely wife. Of course, they didn't know that then. They were pleased enough to receive her on a crisp September day in 1786. She was a bright and engaging child, but they soon felt the need to extended the family. Two more girls followed, Francesca in 1791 and Isabella in 1794, before the Vales were content. Having no sons would be difficult, but the Vale girls were pretty and charming, suitors would undoubtedly come.
Being the oldest, Miranda quickly became the leader, creating the childhood games and instigating the pranks on unwelcome governesses. She ruled the family home in Wiltshire, albeit discreetly. Isabella was a willing participant, in awe of her older sister, so long as she didn't get dirty. Francesca was far more sullen, determined to maintain the appearance of a lady. They grew up happily enough, financially comfortable and with no real disputes.
As time wore on, Miranda became the unwilling recipient of the family's expectations. Although Francesca was perhaps a little more attractive than her, she was bright, educated and a graceful dancer. More importantly than that, however, was the fact she was the eldest. It would be up to her to marry well and introduce her sisters to suitable men of her acquaintance.
Her début was held in Bath, and it only took one Season there for her to attract a husband at eighteen. Bellamy Thwaite was the son of a Viscount, a step up from her own family's rank, and was a suitable, good natured man, though a little older. Miranda was, at first, a little disinterested. He was handsome and charming, but they all were. She'd had a little flirtation with a lieutenant not too long ago, who was far more fun and captivating. However, Miranda agreed to marry Bellamy, regardless.
Two years on, she gave birth to their first child, a boy, much to both families pleasure. They spent their time travelling between Bellamy's home in Cambridgeshire and Bath, living very comfortably on his income. Last year, however, in mid October, Bellamy's father, the Viscount Fletstone passed away after a short, sharp illness. Miranda and Bellamy have now been thrown into a new rank, a new house and a new social circle. Now, just coming out of the mourning period, they intend to acquaint themselves with London life.
