Pevensey Castle is the seat of the Dukedom of Pevensey. Though the castle itself is in ruins, and uninhabitable, a large country house was built inside the old walls.

In 1769, a fire gutted the east wing of the house, killing the 8th duke and his wife, whereupon ownership of the property passed to Arthur Osgood, along with the title. Repairs were overseen by the dowager duchess, Arthur's grandmother, and her husband. Upon his marriage, Arthur took up residence of Pevensey Castle and remained there between the years 1787 and 1798, before retreating to Branksea Castle following the death of his wife.

The property is currently rented out, but the duke still oversees the running of the lands.
