Xavier Darling, Viscount Flemming, is the husband of Dorothea 'Dot' Darling and the cousin of Miss Emily Grey. He has remained in the country at the family seat of Loxwood Park. He is takes a keen interest in inventions and the applications of science, and is very interested in the uses of the steam technology being developed. He is a member of the Royal Society.
