The Barony of Thornley is a hereditary title in the peerage of England. The previous Baron was married to Demelza Quartermaine and they had two daughters, one married Lord Candleford and the other has married Lord Lattisley. The only son died in infancy, so the title reverted to James Reynell, a distant cousin. His wife is the elder sister of James Vickery, the current Viscount Saltash. There is also a distant connection to the Marquessate of Coniston, as the Baroness' half-sister Laura Asquith is a cousin of Lord Wolvercote and a second cousin of Lord Coniston via her marriage into the Asquith family.

Since the death of Robert, the country seat is Tingrith Court in Bedfordshire, the home of James Reynell and his wife Anne. The heir is James' eldest son Christopher.

Coat of Arms

Per pale vert and or, dexter a sword proper in pale, point downwards, sinister in pale two roses gules, barbed vert and seeded or. Motto: 'Ad gloriam per spinas' (To glory through thorns) (A shield divided left and right green and gold, on the left an upright sword, point downwards, on the right two red roses)

This peerage was originally created by Vix.
