Augustus Gosling was the 3rd Duke of Leighton. Despite being exceedingly handsome, he was rumored to have all the personality and charm of a rock.

He married Helen Gosling and the couple produced three children: Andrew in 1745, Augusta in 1747 and surprise lucky last Elinor in 1760.
