Augustus Gosling

Augustus Gosling was the 3rd Duke of Leighton. Despite being exceedingly handsome, he was rumored to have all the personality and charm of a rock.

In a move that rather surprised the London social scene, he married quiet little bluestocking Helen Gosling and the couple produced three children: Andrew in 1745, Augusta in 1747 and surprise lucky last Elinor in 1760.

He is the paternal grandfather of played character Nicholas Gosling and maternal grandfather of played character George Hackett.
