Mrs. Amanda Abberton is the wife of Harold Abberton. She is fashionable and highly ambitious and privately (or not so privately) hopes that Leo, Earl of Mersea does not remarry and produce a son thereby making Harold next in line to inherit the Earldom. She feels a lot of pressure to have a son. Amanda is generally disliked by most of the family. During the Season, she chaperones her youngest sister-in-law, Helen Abberton.
