Mary Cruikshank is the Countess of Coke, wife of the Earl of Coke. She is moderately intelligent. bright and always warmly and somewhat irreverently merry with everyone. She and her husband of thirty years remain happily married.

She was a close friend of Elise du Bois, first wife of Andrew Gosling -- and definitely not a fan of his flighty Sophia Gosling. She and her husband are friends with, and like to think they keep a close eye on, the current duke Nicholas Gosling.
