Background

Lady Blythe Julianna Shelton was born on a snowy Thursday morning at her family's estate in Wiltshire. Her mother, young and fragile from a truly difficult pregnancy, died shortly after due to multiple complications.

From the age of four, Blythe spent her days under the watchful eye of a local baroness, Lady Beverly Tyndall , who took direct charge of her schooling and upbringing. While her father spent his years wasting his inheritance and income through extracurricular activities, Blythe spent her own time under the instructions of numerous tutors. She was taught literature, philosophy, and the sciences, as well as social skills fitting for the upbringing of a Lady such as herself.

In her sixteenth year, Blythe's self indulgent and arrogant father lost his life in a duel. Her second cousin, Hartford Bradley, Baron of Wolvercote, was the only other remaining family member. He inherited the earldom of his cousin, while Blythe inherited her mother's estate. Hartford, or Harry as Blythe refers to him as, gained guardianship for Blythe upon Samuel's death.

Harry, a country baron whose family was reared in modesty, was more then grateful to accept the position and start his life in the lush countryside of Wiltshire. A country boy, he was more interested in horses and fields and simple pleasures than climbing the social ladder, but had a unique talent with the handling of estates. While he enjoys a simple but fulfilled life at Wilton House, Blythe is free to pursue her preferable pastimes and thirst for knowledge.

As Blythe turned nineteen, Harry was becoming increasingly aware that she should present herself in London, thanks to Lady Tyndall. He allowed the Baroness to act as guardian to Blythe for the duration of the season. Accompanied by Lady Tyndall and her daughter Cordelia, Blythe moved from the countryside of Wiltshire to Town, and took up residence in her family's home.
