Julian Crane

Born in 1797, Julian Crane is the sole surviving son of Lady Annabella Crane and Mr James Crane. He has one older sister, Georgiana. He is the first cousin of the Countess of Carrington, Katharine Steele, Lady Julianne Grafton, Jemima Palmer, the Duke of Welby and Lord Daniel Rossington. He is related more distantly to Robbie, Viola and Olivia Fitzgerald, Kit and Josephine Carlisle and Julian and Henrietta Freye.

His elder brother Matthew died in 1810 and Julian was sent down from Eton later that year due to misbehavior, with the request that he not return for the spring. Georgiana suspects it was his way of expressing his own grief. The Cranes were able to secure Julian a place at Harrow, Mr. Crane's alma mater.
