Blanche is twenty-three years old and resides in her family's London house with her elder brother, Adrian, and her chaperone Mrs. Parker. Despite various splendid offers of marriage, Blanche has never yet accepted a gentleman's hand, due to her high standards of the idea of a suitable husband.
