About
A spoiled, flighty thing, Anastasia debuted in 1792 aged sixteen in Bath and promptly married the Earl of Bathampton, liking his title rather more than any other part of him. Clementine was born the next year, much to the delight of both her parents. However, the novelty of the child soon wore off for her husband as it seemed that Anastasia would be unable to fall pregnant a second time.
She comforted herself for the next few years with the company of her daughter, treating her like a pretty little doll, but she soon realised that Bathampton was no place for a child to live, with the Earl's explosive and unpredictable temper.
Anastasia was never much of a mother, but sending Clementine away to school aged ten was the best thing that she ever did for her.
Clementine, perhaps, does not see it this way.
