Schooling and Future

William is a bright student at Winchester, where he does well in his studies. He will be turning 16 in the near future, which is a crucial decision time - he can leave school and go into a profession, as a lawyer's clerk or banker's clerk or similar, or remain at school to go on to university with a view to becoming a lawyer himself, or entering the church; there is a suitable living in his uncle's gift and his older cousin John seems content with his own choice of profession.
