Parents & Siblings

Richard is the eldest child of Edmond Landon and Marion Landon, and is the heir to the Beningborough estate. He will become the 5th Marquess of Beningborough upon his father's death. He has four siblings, three sisters and a brother:

Elizabeth Landon

Juliet Landon

Frederick Landon

Amelia "Amy" Landon

Spouse

Richard is married to Elizabeth "Ella" Landon (nee Chatswick), his wife of nearly a year. He met Ella last Season, and married her last July.

Childhood (1789-1800)

Richard had always been an outgoing child, who spent hours outdoors playing in all kinds of weather. At the age of 3, he contracted a serious case of pneumonia, which brought him close to death's door, much to his parents' worry. He did make a full recovery, and his illness did nothing to hinder his enthusiasm for the outdoors. His mother did develop more of a tendency to be overprotective of him following his illness, leading to Richard being rather spoiled, though he is generally easy going and laid back.

Schooling (1800-1810)

Setting out for Eton in 1800, Richard soon discovered that he was less than academically inclined. After struggling his way through Eton, he sought to follow his father's footsteps, and was accepted to Oxford in 1808, which he promptly dropped out of two years later. Instead of finishing his degree, he decided to travel to London to witness his sister Elizabeth's debut into society, while attempting to fashion himself as a rake, something he had picked up at Oxford. Richard's exploits were "quite pathetic," according to his sister Juliet, who scoffed at the idea of her "sweet" elder brother trying to scandalize London. In the end, Juliet was correct, and instead of landing himself with a mistress, Richard found himself enraptured with Lady Elizabeth (Ella) Chatswick. They were married in July 1810.

Marriage (1810-present)

Following his marriage to Ella, Richard moved his things out of the Beningborough Estate and Morledge Park, and into Seyton Court, where he assumed his responsibilities as the Earl of Seyton. While this is only a courtesy title in practice, his father insists that he learns how to properly run the estate for when he becomes Marquess. The athletically inclined Richard is less than pleased, and plans on returning to London with Ella later this week.
