Parents & Siblings
Born to the 3rd Marquess of Beningborough, Nicholas Landon, and his wife, Augusta Landon, Edmond was the first of two living children that would come from his parents union. In 1766, his younger sister, Celia Powell (nee Landon), was born. Following Celia's birth, there would be three more siblings, none of whom would survive their first birthday. Following the death of his younger brother Arthur in 1770, Edmond's parents became estranged from each other, though his mother spent time with him and Celia. Nicholas Landon died from a heart attack in 1784, leaving the title of Marquess to Edmond.
Spouse
Edmond is married to Marion Landon, the daughter of the impoverished Baron Roth. While the Burstow family had been facing a large amount of scandal at the time of Marion's debut in 1787, the marriage was arranged with the help of Augusta's meddling. Having heard of the gossip surrounding Marion's family, and after meeting the girl for herself, she was quite impressed with Marion's tenacity. Deciding to push Edmond and Marion together, Augusta was relieved to discover that the two had fallen in love. By the end of the Season of 1787, Edmond had proposed.
Family
Edmond and Marion have a large family, who include:
Elizabeth "Ella" Landon (daughter-in-law)
Childhood (1764-1775)
As the eldest child of Nicholas and Augusta, and heir to the Beningborough estate, Edmond was treated with kid gloves as a child. He spent his days either reading adventure stories or playing as a soldier in the garden. When his sister Celia was born, he incorporated her into his games, much to her chagrin. As he grew older, however, he began to notice the rift between his parents, and became much more secluded and quiet, growing more interested in his books than playing games.
Schooling (1775-1784)
At the age of 11, Edmond left home to attend Eton, where he stayed until the age of 17. Following his education at Eton, he went on to Oxford, where he studied politics and history, graduating in 1784, only months before his father's death.
Marriage (1787-present)
Following his graduation from Oxford, Edmond travelled abroad for two years. When he returned in 1786, he became involved in the running of his estate and politics. Worried that her son would lose himself in his books as he did as a child, Augusta set out to find Edmond a suitable wife. She found her in Marion Burstow, a debutante who was struggling to cast off the shadow of scandal that had fallen upon her family. It was sheer luck that Edmond ignored gossip, and fell in love with Marion, proposing to her at the end of the 1787 Season. Their first child, Richard Landon, was born only a year after their marriage, and four other children followed over the course of the next thirteen years.
Present Day
Edmond is currently living at the Beningborough Estate, though he has made plans to travel to London within the week to attend Parliament and to take part in the Season.
