Background
Frederick Lazenby was fortunate enough to be the first child born to Baron Kirkham and his new wife, Roseanne, in April, 1784. The family had a long history in English society, a name that could be traced through the books and a fairly sizeable estate in Lancashire. Frederick was particularly close to his nearest sibling, Diana, and was very much shaken when she died in 1792 from scarlet fever, whilst he and his brother were thankfully spared. Her death had long lasting effects on Frederick, who went from being a confident, boisterous young boy to a very quiet one.
A few years later, he left the family home to attend Rugby School, as all the Lazenby men. He did well enough at school, never at the top of the class but never at the bottom. He excelled at sports, especially cricket and football, and enjoyed reading in particular.
On finishing school, Frederick eagerly returned home and began taking part in the day to day running of the estate. Through a number of schemes and projects, Frederick began generating a much better income for the family and the surrounding area.
Four years ago, the family was rocked by the scandalous behaviour of Jacob, Frederick's younger brother. On returning from Rugby, Jacob quickly courted and got a local merchant's daughter pregnant. When he realised the social consequences and responsibilities he had brought upon himself, he left for South America and has not been heard from since. The girl, named Sarah, barely held herself together emotionally during the pregnancy. When she gave birth to the baby, she lost her mind and promptly killed herself. Rather than abandon the boy to an orphanage, Frederick convinced the family to take him in and assumed parental responsibility for Tobias.
These days, the family has just about recovered from the scandal. Frederick has continued to increase the estate's wealth to the point where it rivals larger estates in the North.
Current
After attending the London season with her aunt and cousins last year, Sophia has convinced her older brother to accompany her this year. She is keen, along with the rest of the family, to see her brother happy and married. Fred, whilst optimistic about his hopes for love in the future, is more concerned with keeping an eye on his sister and protecting her from all harm. He is struggling to find his feet in London, but he'll do his best and push through regardless.
Trivia
Has a tri-coloured Border Collie puppy he's brought with him to London to train, called Pudding at home and Brutus in polite Society.
Is a prodigious lover of food, especially sweets, puddings and desserts. His favourite? Rhubarb crumble.
The tips of his ears turn red when embarrassed.
Relationships
Family
- Richard Lazenby: His father is a great influence on him and they respect and love each other, they have a very strong relationship.
- Roseanne Lazenby: A distant mother, especially recently, but Fred is the apple of her eye. He is the only one who remembers Diana, so she speaks of her often to him, even he doesn't wish her to. Often tries to mediate between her and Sophia.
- Diana Lazenby: He has a few faint and fond memories of his first sister, he avoids speaking of her to his sister and his mother, knowing the pain it causes them.
- Jacob Lazenby: Fred has never forgiven his brother for his actions, nor himself, he likely never will. He has disowned Jacob and will not speak of him.
- Sophia Lazenby: His closest friend, he loves his sister dearly. He struggles to view her as a young woman and is loathe to see her go, though he is very proud of her.
- Teddy Lazenby: Fred has a strong relationship with his brother, they get on very well. He hopes to support Teddy in whatever future path he decides on.
- Tobias Lazenby: He loves Tobias dearly and views him like his own, he plans to provide for Tobias even if he goes on to have children of his own. He misses him dearly.
- Peter & Agnes Randal: Fred has a high regard for his aunt and uncle, he is particularly grateful for their kindness towards Sophia.
- Michael Randal: Often thrown together for society events and everyday outings, the two get on quite well. Michael's been very helpful since Fred came to town.
- Emmeline Randal: Fred is painfully aware of his cousin's crush on him. Whilst she is a pleasant enough girl, she is too boisterous and loud for him, he tries not to encourage her but is never cruel.
Friends
- Viola Fitzgerald: Connected through their fathers, Fred finds her terrifying.
- Olivia Fitzgerald: He thinks her a very sweet girl and a desirable friend for his sister.
- William Devenish: A friend from Yorkshire via the Fitzgeralds.
- Charlie Devenish: A friend from Yorkshire via the Fitzgeralds.
- Elise Hampton: Fred thinks very highly of Elise and finds her very pleasant company, and very pretty. He understands and sympathises with her circumstances, having gone through the same with Tobias.
Acquaintances
- Evander Whinging: Introduced by Sophia, Fred does like the poet, they have a lot in common.
Love Interests
- Annabelle Beacham: Fred saved Belle's puppy from an angry goose once in Hyde Park, he's been enamoured with her since, despite being aware of her suitors and prospects.
